The Normanby Chase

Support our plans to enhance the Normanby Room, with a treat for your home.

We asked printmaker Rebecca Perdue, whose cushions and prints we stock in the museum shop, to create a special design for us in our anniversary year. The fact we really needed to update the lampshades which top our Mousey Thompson standard lamps in the Normanby Room, was a great starting point.

Inspired by the Yorkshire landscape, and the creatures she is so skilled at depicting, Rebecca created a design showing a circular chase through nature for the lampshades. And so The Normanby Chase was born. The full Normanby Chase design is also available as a print.

One element of the design features a wily fox. He’s been adapted to feature on a beautiful ticking-backed cushion. Normanby Fox cushions are available in two colourways – sepia and sage. Normanby Fox is also available as a print.

“We’re delighted to bring you this range of truly unique items as part of our anniversary year,” says the museum’s Commercial Manager, Fiona Hall. “There are lots of ways you can support us in our efforts to raise money to refresh this special part of the museum, and shopping is thankfully one of them! It’s unusual (normally criminal) to see something on display in the museum and take it home, but you can, guilt free, with our Normanby Chase lampshades. It was a pleasure working with Rebecca to bring our vision of a Normanby themed range of products to life, and I hope they bring just as much pleasure if you choose to support the museum by buying one and having it in your home or giving as a gift.”

All items are designed, printed and finished by hand by Rebecca. The prints are signed and titled.
