Help us knit…

We’re knitting a yellow brick road as part of the ever evolving display in our gift shop window.

But we need your help to make up the miles we need to get us to The Emerald City…

Brave museum dog, Chico, supervises volunteer Anne’s brick roading.

Our main focus is the cowardly lion – his quest for courage seems to sit well with us. Our recently revamped museum shop has loads of great ideas for fabulous presents.

Go on, be brave, pop in and have a browse!

This year’s Christmas theme for all the shops in Richmond is ‘The Wizard of Oz’, matching up with The Georgian Theatre Royal’s pantomime for this festive season.

Members of the town council’s judging panel will assess all the window displays on the evening of the big town lights switch on – Friday 1 December.

“We’re really hoping to make our mark in the competition this year, building on all the work we’ve done to bring in new shop stock and build on the positive comments we’ve had from shoppers about our window displays over the past few months,” says Commercial Manager, Fiona Hall.  “The character of the cowardly lion stood out for us, so we’ve based our display around him.  However, you can’t have a Wizard of Oz theme without a yellow brick road, so we’ve decided to try to create one in time for the judging.”

Anyone visiting the shop is welcome to add some stitches, a few rows, or even knit a whole section at home and we’ll join it in.
