The Green Howards Museum Partners with Army Benevolent Fund for Remembrance 2025

The Green Howards Museum is honoured to announce a special collaboration with the Army Benevolent Fund as part of its 2025 Remembrance commemorations.

This partnership sees the museum’s gift shop window transformed into a striking tribute featuring this year’s Steel Soldiers; powerful symbolic figures that form part of the Army Benevolent Fund’s national remembrance campaign. The display invites visitors and passers-by to pause, reflect, and remember those who have served in the British Army, past and present.
The Steel Soldiers campaign aims to raise awareness of the ongoing needs of veterans and their families, while highlighting the continued importance of remembrance in our communities. The silhouettes in the museum’s display act as a visible and moving reminder of those who have made great sacrifices in service to their country.

The campaign is led by Yorkshire-based manufacturer ACS Stainless Steel Fixings, offering communities across the UK a chance to mark Remembrance with striking steel silhouettes of soldiers, symbolising Service, Sacrifice, and Legacy.
The museum’s window display features one of these figures as part of the national initiative, joining hundreds of other displays across towns and villages to honour the fallen and those who continue to serve. This year’s new silhouette design was created by Leeds schoolgirl Elizabeth, inspired by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s wartime role as a mechanic in the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
Since its launch in 2021, ACS has produced more than 780 Steel Soldiers, distributed nationwide with the help of logistics partner DX Group.

The Army Benevolent Fund supports soldiers, veterans, and their families in need, providing vital assistance from financial aid to mental health support.

The display will be in place throughout the Remembrance period, offering an opportunity for the public to engage with the campaign and learn more about how they can support the Army Benevolent Fund’s vital work.

Want to support the campaign?

Raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund, Yorkshire-based ACS Stainless Steel Fixings has launched its fifth annual Steel Soldiers Remembrance campaign, featuring a poignant new design inspired by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s wartime service in the Auxiliary Territorial Service.

This year’s silhouette, designed by Leeds schoolgirl Elizabeth, captures the Queen’s spirit of dedication and strength, a perfect reflection of the campaign’s 2025 theme: Service. Sacrifice. Legacy.

All proceeds from the Steel Soldiers support the Army Benevolent Fund, helping soldiers, veterans, and their families. Since 2021, over 780 steel silhouettes have been placed across the UK, and have raised over £12,000 for the ABF.
