Shop local

Our shop is firmly established as the go-to place for gifts in Richmond; it’s great to chat to visitors about our new stock, as well as seeking out interesting and unusual items which we hope you’ll like as much as we do.

Please pop in if you can – every time you spend in the shop, you help keep our marvellous museum running.

We’re excited to showcase a couple of Yorkshire based new businesses who are new to our shelves.

The Little Yorkshire Candle Company, from Tadcaster, produce exquisitely presented candles, and candle accessories, perfectly packaged to create beautiful gifts, or a treat for yourself.  Choose from Bliss, Sleep, Sensual and Create to meet your mood.

York based Cosy Cottage Soap Company will help you banish the plastic from your bathroom.  Having outgrown their kitchen table operation, they’re about to move to new premises in Malton.  We’ve chosen some heavenly scents from their range.  Pair with one of our jute shower bags and you’ll never need to take a single bottle into the shower again!  We’ve also added in shampoo bars and shaving soaps.

Continuing the theme, the sell-out success product that is Beautykubes will also be making a return to our shelves.  These handmade shampoo and body wash cubes are organic, vegan friendly and plastic free.  Excellent for anyone pledging to banish plastic, and for hand luggage travelling, as they aren’t liquid!

We’re really pleased to welcome back UpCircle for 2019.  Reused, repurposed, reloved: the company, who had three Dragons fighting over them in the Den, transform ingredients that would otherwise be discarded. Natural, sustainable, vegan and cruelty-free.

Their ‘you brewty’ pamper kit proved a real favourite at the end of 2018.  It’s a great introduction to an excellent brand, with the kit containing a selection of re-purposed coffee ground face and body scrubs and serums.

Our greetings cards are always popular – with prices as low as we can possibly make them ensuring customers return time and again to pick up some more lovely ‘blank for your message’ art cards.  We’ve been wondering about unnecessary packaging recently and have been speaking to our main suppliers about the options.  Stand by for some exciting news on this coming soon!
