The author of ‘The war poets and the diary of an ordinary Tommy’ will be at the museum as part of our ‘Your Story’ family history research day in November.
In her book, Margaret Parry uses the diary of her grandfather, 34 year old Harry Atkinson to tell a very personal story of the First World War. Intertwined with extracts from the war poets, and her own original work, Margaret’s book also takes us on a personal journey through the places Harry served in the Somme area.
