John Cecil Morgan was born in 1876. Educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Oxford he first joined the regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant in February 1899, going on to serve in South Africa. He saw action in a number of engagements, as reflected in the clasps on his South Africa medals.
He left the Army in 1909. However, on the outbreak of the First World War he rejoined The Yorkshire Regiment in October 1914 as a Captain. He was killed at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli on 7th August 1915.
