Latest acquisition

We have welcomed a new medal into the museum’s collection.

Thanks to financial assistance from the Green Howards Association, the museum has acquired Private M L Hatton’s General Service Medal.

Private Hatton was shot dead by an IRA sniper on the north side of the Crumlin Road on the 9th August 1971.

Museum visitors will be able to see Private Hatton’s medal when we re-open on the 20th January.

“It is very important that medals from more recent conflicts are on display,” says Museum Director and Curator, Lynda Powell.  “We are very grateful for the association’s help in acquiring this important medal, which will be installed in the Medal Room.”
