9:15 am - 10:30 am
Walk the Ribbon of Remembrance route with us, starting in Catterick Garrison and progressing to Richmond in time for the Remembrance ceremony and two minute silence in Friary Gardens.
Why not join us in the museum after the ceremony for a bowl of hearty soup on this special day? We’re working with Richmond’s independent family greengrocer, Neeps and Tatties, to provide a warming lunch in the cosy surroundings of our stunning Normanby Room. Your £5 donation will benefit the local branch of the Royal British Legion and our Medal Room improvement project. Book now.
The walk starts at the roadside by the entrance to Phoenix House (Help for Heroes) and ends in Richmond.
It’s an easy three mile stroll on pavement and cycle track, and you’ll be able to chat to the museum team about the project, and all things First World War. Along the way, you will be able to learn more about those featured on our Ribbon of Remembrance. Information about them will line the route, which itself was built by German Prisoners of War in 1917.
We can’t predict the weather, so please dress appropriately for the conditions.
Please note – this is a linear walk. Limited parking is available along the driveways at The Hive, Smuts Road (DL9 3AX), which is on the other side of the road to the meeting place at Phoenix House. There is no parking available at Phoenix House.
If you are making your way to the start point by bus, please check the timetable and ask the driver to let you know when the closest bus stop to Phoenix House is coming up.
