ALMA Week at the Museum

To coincide with Alma Day the Museum invited any ladies named Alma to visit free of charge.  We surprisingly had four ladies present their birth certificates and none seem to know why they had been given the name or realised its association with this Battle across the River Alma in the Crimean War.

 Our very able guide Peter Etherington took Mrs Alma Hutchinson and her husband of Middlesbrough, to see the Alma display on the top floor.  They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and thanks to Peter know a lot more about the Green Howards Regiment.
