The Role of the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards)

The Green Howards completed a two-year tour of duty in Northern Ireland and moved from Ballykelly, near Londonderry, to Chepstow in February 2004. At Chepstow the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) specialised as a light role infantry battalion and awaited deployment around the world. After service in Belize and Afghanistan, the regiment, - now the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, was posted to Bosnia.
The regiment returned from Bosnia to a posting at Weeton Barracks near Blackpool, and from there was sent in the last quarter of 2007 to Afghanistan. They returned from Afghanistan in April 2008.
