Mr Bob Clowson writes:
We wish to inform you of the passing of one of our 'Old Comrades' Sergeant John
Earl on 26th March 2004.
John or 'Busty', as he was called by one and all, was born on 10th September 1931. He joined the 1st Battalion at Longmoor Camp, Suez in 1949 and served with the Battalion for 24 years in Egypt, Malaya, Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Libya, British Honduras, Canada and Northern Ireland.
His funeral took place at Ackworth and was attended by 18 members of the Regiment plus eight members of The Royal British Legion and their Standard. A bugler played the 'Last Post' and 'Reveille' and the coffin was draped with the Standard of Barnsley Branch GHA.
To his wife, Christine and the twins, Lorraine and Nigel, we send our sincere condolences and our heartfelt thoughts.

Mr Ronnie Boyes writes:
It is with regret that I report the death of Peter Edwards on Friday 1 September.
Peter had just had a triple bypass a few days earlier and was looking
forward to returning home. Though not originally a Green Howard Peter
served in Malaya and used to visit companies of the 1st Bn with the Royal Army
Dental Corps. He had revisited Malaya with the late Fred Boyes and had
taken many photographs of graves of Green Howards which he made available to
all.
Peter had been Treasurer of the Branch for many years and it is because of his
dedication and hardwork that the Branch is in the sound financial position that
it enjoys today.
The funeral service took place at Guisborough Parish Church on the 7 September
followed by cremation. The Branch was well represented and provided pall
bearers. The Branch Standards of Guisborough, Redcar, Middlesbrough and
Loftus were on parade. RHQ was represented by Major W Laws and a former
PSAO at Guisborough with the 4/5 Bn was also present, Captain G Riordan.
The church was packed with family and friends and old comrades. To his
family - Lynn, Susan, Peter and David we offer our deepest sympathy.
Tom Heron writes:
Norman Elford, from Portsmouth, was our 'Schoolie' in the 1952-56 2nd Battalion in Cyprus, having come to the Regiment from service in Korea. He suffered from a serious blood disorder, which had been held in remission for several years; however it was presumably this which proved fatal to him on 19th March 2007. Norman was a talented artist and was engaged on a commission basis, chiefly by Portsmouth Corporation. His speciality, however, was steam railways. Several china wall plate manufacturers used his paintings and he also exhibited in London and at the National Railway Museum in York.
